BF型防坠器是竖井罐笼的一种重要的安全装置。根据《煤矿安全规程》的规定,新安装或大修后的防坠器必须进行试验,试验合格后方可使用。使用过程中每半年进行一次检查性试验,每年进行一次脱钩试验。BF型防坠器由安装在罐笼上的抓捕器、井架上的缓冲器、井底拉紧装置、制动绳缓冲绳及连接器组成。在提升过程中,由于各种原因导致提升钢丝绳断裂或者连接装置断裂时,它能有效地自动抓住制动绳,使罐笼平稳停住,不至于坠入井底,从而保证人员安全和提升设备不至于损坏。每台带有BF防坠器的罐笼出厂之前都要进行一系列的脱钩试验,保证防坠器能够正常工作。
