2004～2005赛季的CBA常规赛已经进行了25轮。对于40轮的常规赛来说，25轮也就意味CBA的版图初定，球员们在整个联赛中的形象也就有了大致的轮廓。和以往的赛季一样，CBA从来都不只是国手和外员的双人舞台，一些非国手球员的横空出世，使联赛更加的精彩纷呈。从某种程度上来说，CBA联赛是非国手球员向国手球员发起冲击的阵地，大家都希望在这个阵地上攻城拔寨，以期在未来的国家队中占据一席之地。毕竟，如果不是姚明那样的天才，那么国家队也就成为一个球员所能追求的最崇高的目标。诸如伊斯兰教的朝觐、藏传佛教的膜拜，球员一生进一次国家队，人生也就没有遗憾了。而且，非国手球员整体实力的高低，也是衡量CBA联赛水平高低的重要标准。
