Many metabolic reactions occur after infection, injury or major surgery. It has been suggested that tumor necrosis factor (TNF), a cytokine that is the main mediator of these host responses. Recent evidence suggests that bacterial endotoxins activate macrophages and other reticuloendothelial cells, produce cytokines, and then mediate the host’s response. Although based on convincing evidence that TNF is a key mediator of septic shock and death in animals, there is little data on the role of TNF in the metabolic response following severe infection or injury in humans. This article is the author of a study in the crowd. Materials and Methods: The TNF group consisted of 16 tumor patients. The criteria for selecting a case are: 1. Histologically confirmed malignancy, clinically evidence of metastasis or progression; 2. Lack of other effective therapies; 3. Eastern Association of Tumors
