For indirect heating of gas burners, the noise measured at 3ft from the flame trap will be higher than 85 ~ 88dBA. This is related to the velocity of the gas in the nozzle and the tube. A series of experimental results show that the low frequency “rumbling” sound of the general design disappears only when the gas in the nozzle is much faster than the gas in the tube. The experimental data also shows that the burner noise is related to the volumetric expansion of the gas, the ratio of air to fuel in the burner, the flow rate of the mixed gas, the velocity of the orifice gas, the area of the combustion chamber, and the number of combustion chambers. As long as these variables are calculated, the burner’s noise level can be predicted.
