This study aimed to establish the extent of adoption of business analytics (BA) in supermarket chains and determine the factors affecting the adoption of BA in supermarkets operation in Guangdong Province. The study's need arose in view that 'Big data' has become one of the most popular trends within the business intelligence (BI), analytics, and data management operations. Technology – Organization – Environment (TOE) framework and diffusion of innovation used as a theoretical base to determine the factors affecting the adoption of BA for supermarket operation in the Shunda. A cross-section study design and quantitative approach were used for data collection from respondents in 5 cities to study their attitudes in using such Technology in their local supermarket shopping.
