The super-fan engine gear system was developed as a prime contractor by aerospace technology company (a joint venture between RR and Liebherr Aerospace) in 2015. RR is responsible for the design definition, design integration and testing activities of the power gear system. Liebherr Aerospace supplies the production technology for the transmission components of the power gear system. Universities and research institutes in Britain and Germany also participated in the research. Its research and development funding from the United Kingdom and Germany’s national aviation research funds, Europe “Clean Sky 2 ” program and the Brandenburg regional government funds. The power gear system from RR, shown in Figure 1, is a key part of the design of a super-fan engine.
