The European Commission has proposed to approve Bayer CropScience’s insecticide spiromesifen, which is expected to enter Appendix I of the EU Crop Protection Code 1107/2009 on October 1, 2013, for a period of 10 years. The Committee requested Member States, when approving the product, to pay particular attention to their long-term risks to aquatic invertebrates, to pollinators and non-target organisms, and to their safety risks to operators. If necessary, appropriate risk mitigation measures are required.
