在峨眉山龙门洞剖面中,二迭系峨眉山玄武岩组项面上发育近十米厚的紫红色岩层,肉眼观察具紫红色鲕状铁质泥岩特征,前人一般都把它当作正常沉积岩或火山碎屑岩而划归沙湾组。成都地质学院沉积学科研组最近对这段剖面逐层取样,经薄片鉴定均为红土化玄武岩。其风化程度从顶向下逐渐减弱,与下伏新鲜的具杏仁状构造的斑状玄武岩成渐变关系。在红土化玄武岩之上才是沙湾组的正常沉积岩。由于这段剖面内未夹正常沉积岩,因
