用定量统计方法对中、英文科技期刊的英文摘要进行比较和分析。选取中、英文科技期刊各十种作为研究对象,从每种期刊中随机抽取十篇文章,统计英文摘要的长度(单词数量)、句子长度和句子数。结果显示,中文科技期刊的英文摘要明显短,句子长,句子数少,提供的信息量少。进一步分析显示,上述现象可能归咎于作者的英文水平有限和对科技论文英文摘要的写作规范把握不足。
Quantitative statistical methods are used to compare and analyze the English abstracts of Chinese and English scientific journals. Ten Chinese and English sci-tech periodicals are selected as research objects. Ten articles are randomly selected from each journal, and the length of the English abstracts (number of words), sentence length and number of sentences are counted. The results show that English scientific journals have shortened English abstracts, long sentences, few sentences, and small amount of information. Further analysis shows that the above phenomenon may be attributed to the author’s limited English proficiency and lack of grasp of the norms of English abstracts in scientific papers.
