Chromotropic acid disazo derivatives is an important rare earth color reagent, in the absorption spectrophotometry has been widely used. It is proposed that rare earths, like bases, may form several different types of color reaction with certain chromotropic acid disazo derivatives. Usually, there are many studies on α-type reactions, but there is no research on the possibility of β-type reactions and the conditions of color development.
