The mainstream economics model assumes that human beings are essentially selfish and strive for real benefits by rational behavior. Living in a world that assumes we are “rational economic man” may foster selfish habits. Fortunately, research shows that this habit can be broken. The foundation of the mainstream economic model today is based on two basic assumptions: first, human beings are selfish in nature and strive for practical benefits by rational behavior - the so-called rational economic hypothene; and second, Adam Smith The metaphor for “invisible hand” - intended to show that selfish behavior can inadvertently promote the public interest. These two assumptions are obviously wrong.
