Wedgeing azobenzene from the DNA sequence backbone enables light-controlled DNA hybridization and melting to provide continuous energy for DNA nanomechanisms. The typical applications of nano-tweezers, nanowirers and light-sensitive capsules were briefly introduced, and the future research directions were also prospected.
