语法教学是英语教学中的重要组成部分,是贯穿在中学和大学基础英语教学中的一条主线.如何运用有效的、先进的教学方法组织英语语法教学,是英语教师在现今的教学中不断研究、探索的课题.传统的语法教学过分重视语言的形式,在整个课堂教学过程中,把教师视为中心,主要依靠教师注入式的讲解.学生被动地模仿、记忆或进行古板、孤立、教条的句型操练.逐词翻译等方法,以达到学生能造出语法正确的句子这一目的.可是,在我们目前的英语教学中,普遍存在的一个问题、即大多数学生可以造出语法准确的句子,但却不能运用简单的英语进行日常交际.究其原因,不难发现是传统语法教学的条条框框使学生们的思维受到束缚,在没开口之前,在脑子里先把语法结构想一遍,然后再逐词地加上去.有时越害怕说错,越说不出来.随着我国对外开放、涉外活动的逐渐增加,学生们迫切地需要提高自己实际运用英语的能力,以适应社会发展的需要.70年代出现的交际教学法却能弥补传统语法教学的不足,满足学生的实际需要,有效地提高我们的英语教学质量.
