Serum obtained from meningococcal colonized individuals as well as sera from patients with meningococcal disease all contain specific antibodies against Neisserial heat shock protein / chaperone protein 60 (Chp60) protein. In this study, the authors immunized mice with recombinant Chp60 in saline, Chp60 with aluminum hydroxide, Chp60 in liposomes, and Chp60 in detergent particles, with or without Plus monophosphoryl lipid A adjuvant. The results show that antibodies capable of inducing a high level of similar (P> 0.05) antibodies can recognize Chp60 on the outer membrane.
