The 88.9 × 6.45mm size 90SS tubing used in an oilfield suffered a tube breakage during service. The causes of tubing fracture were analyzed by stereomicroscope, optical microscope, scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction and energy spectrum analysis. The results show that the chemical composition, hardness and inclusion content of the fracture-failed oil pipe meet the requirements of the product standards. The anti-sulfur oil pipe is corroded by CO2 environment during service or storage, and a large number of localized corrosion pits are formed on the outer wall of the oil pipe, Ability to make tubing in the H2S corrosion stress concentration by a larger load, resulting in tubing H2S stress corrosion cracking, resulting in brittle fracture.
