BMD, E2, PTH, T and serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 [25 (OH) D3] in 150 postmenopausal women were measured. The results showed that the levels of BMD, serum E2 and 25 (OH) D3 in postmenopausal women were significantly lower than those in young and middle-aged women, and the PTH levels were significantly higher in the postmenopausal women than in the young and middle-aged women. There was no significant difference in serum T levels between the two groups. There is a significant correlation between BMD and the above hormones. It is suggested that the decline of BMD in postmenopausal women is closely related to the imbalance of endocrine hormones in the body. The imbalance of endocrine hormones related to bone metabolism in vivo may be the important etiology of postmenopausal women with osteoporosis.
