《北京平原第四纪钙质超微化石的初步研究》(王乃文等,中国科学,B辑,1982年3期.)(以下简称《研究》)一文报导了在北京平原地区若干钻孔中发现的钙质超微化石.无疑,这对深入探讨和认识该区和我国北方东部地区第四纪沉积、海侵和古气候等问题提供了重要信息.然惜在《研究》文中对某些关键性的钙质超微化石鉴定和论述明显地存在着较大的疑商之处.当然,相应据超微化石成果引伸出的若干认识也颇值重新估价和考虑.为讨论方便起见,首先有必要对目前国际第四纪钙质超微化石分带概况作一简要的介绍.自1970年Martini,E.在罗马的国际第二届浮游生物会议上提出海相新生代钙质超微化石分带方案以来,虽经丰富和补充,但分带方案和基本内容一直无实质性改变,它在国际上早已广为使用.按Martini方案,第四系钙质超微化石被分为三个带:
