湖南省在全国范围内进行了绿肥春播套种试验。据32个单位统计,试验面积323亩。其中在小麦中套种的93亩,在油菜中套种的230亩,绿肥亩产鲜草66～3500斤,平均每亩鲜草产量902斤。31个小麦套种绿肥试验,平均亩产小麦176斤,亩产绿肥鲜草800斤;45个油菜套种绿肥试验,平均亩产菜籽145斤,亩产绿肥鲜草1000斤。绿肥春播套种试验的初步成功,
