The United States McGuire nuclear power plant has two electric powers of 1,220 MW PWR. Over the past five years, the power station has significantly reduced the production of liquid and solid low-level radioactive waste, resulting in savings of approximately US$ 140,000 for conversion and storage in 1993 and 1994. These achievements encouraged Duke Power to implement the same plans at its two nuclear power plants, Oconi and Cato.
