喻先生将《对新闻学中一些基本问题的看法》寄给陈桂兰院长时,并未注明系“未定稿”或“征求意见稿”。陈院长又是《新闻大学》编委会主任,经常收到给本刊的自发来稿,所以当即将此稿转给主编处理。主编考虑到本刊积稿甚多,该文篇幅过长,且可争议之处颇多,便明确提议:能否不用。陈院长认为:喻先生是中国社科院新闻研究所所长,是学术界德高望重,为人师表的老学者,其见解有一定代表性,且已第二次寄来稿件,还是考虑分两次登吧！上半篇发表后,喻先生当即致信陈院长,对发表该文表示感谢,并对下半篇作了个别字句的修改。这本该是皆大欢喜的事,后来发表了商榷文章,喻先生便提出“未与我打招呼就自行将全文刊出”。为了避免多费口舌,且这段文字与《答姚福申先生三问》主题无直接关系,所以在发表《三问》时删去。 因论争到此为止,对手方已无答辩机会,根据孙旭培先生要求,在批评其论点时注出原文。
