1994年9月4日至10日在我国首都北京将举行规模盛大的第6届远东及南太平洋地区残疾人运动会。经国务院批准,我国拟派出600人组成的残疾人体育代表团,参加本届运动会所有14个大项的比赛。为做好代表团的组团、集训工作,国家体委、中国残联于1994年1月16日在京召开部分重点省市组团集训工作会议。北京、上海、湖南、广东、广西等11个省市的体委、残联领导及部门负责同志参加了会议。国家体委主任伍绍祖、副主任徐寅生以及中国残联主席邓朴方、理事长刘小成、副理事长周敬东、郭建模等亲切会见了与会全体人员。
