良种壮苗是实现林木速生丰产优质的重要措施之一,也是实现林业现代化的基础。实践证明:培育壮苗至少有以下好处:(1)苗木健壮单位面积产苗量高,节省种子和育苗成本;(2)苗木形态好,各项质量指标高,新陈代谢旺盛,造林成活率高,恢复生长快;(3)苗木分化小,造林后均衡生长,生长速度快,能最大限度地利用自然潜力。因此,总结壮苗培育技术,对于提高造林质量,加速获得森林效益具有重要意义。池杉为低海拔平原河网湖区优良用材树种,具有良好干形和速生耐湿特性。它冠窄根深、抗风耐瘠,繁殖容易,是国外引进成功的树种之一。现在华中、华东、华南十余省市,广为栽培。但是当前各地在栽培繁殖中,忽视质量的现象依然存在。如采种不问成熟抢采早采;育种中商业观点严重,只追求产苗量,以致苗木质量低,等等。为了总结池杉壮苗培育技术,我们于一九七八年底对我省一市五县的十一个场(所)
