我們观察到,虽然土壤中微生物的种类很多,在一定条件下只有少数种类占优势。制备一定土样的营养冻粉平面培养,常見到在最高稀釋盤中只有一种或少数几种占80%以上。如果用选擇培养基来分离培养一定生理羣,也常見到一种或少数几种在最高稀釋盤中占优势。这些事实指出,一定土壤在一定条件之下,只有少数几种微生物对于土壤中相应的生物化学活动起决定性作用。进一步認識到,正因为占优势的种类对于土壤中相適应的活动起着决定性的作用,对这些种类应当調查清楚并詳加研究。对它們了解得愈多,就愈能够管制它們的活动,为农业生产服务。
