The study was carried out in Artificial pine forests of Grade I-33 to 34 years old on grasses and grayscale ashes. Before the thinning (at the end of May 1960), there were 2,866 forest trees per hectare with an average diameter of 12.6 cm, an average height of 16.2 meters, a total cross-sectional area of 35.8 square meters and an accumulation volume of 282 cubic meters.
