赵文江的山水画,不独忠实于林壑泉石,草目云山,更忠实于自己。赵文江是在用他自己的绘画语言,来表现其独有的审美感受。不拘于模山范水的形似,重在表现对山水的憧憬,再显其品格精神。既重视自然,能与花鸟共忧乐;又轻视自然,能奴仆命风月。文江写富春江沿岸风光,足显燕赵豪气,虽尺寸亦挟云烟之势,以苍老淋漓之气别开生面,可谓气韵沉雄。赵文江从师名家,又尝临写五代宋元各名家,广览历代画论,因此其画作,古色苍然。他的山水画多以墨色为主,绝少红绿黄紫之色,故有简约拙朴之致。
