以往对白蛉人工感染利什曼原虫均采用白蛉叮咬感染动物或病人皮肤损害处的方法,这种方法既不简便又昂贵,为此作者建立了一种快速而简便的新技术:将在37℃下连续培养的小鼠巨噬细胞接种不同种的利什曼原虫前鞭毛期。实验用的虫种为热带利什曼原虫、杜氏利什曼原虫、巴西利什曼原虫巴拿马亚种、墨西哥利什曼原虫亚马逊亚种、墨西哥利什曼原虫墨西哥亚种以及恰加斯利什曼原虫等。媒介昆虫白蛉为静食白蛉与长须白蛉。
