Energy is an important factor of production. Due to the increase of investment in energy, human productivity has been greatly improved and economic and social development promoted. Changes in industrial structure is an important factor affecting the improvement of energy efficiency in the region. In the development of modern economy, the upgrade of industrial structure is closely linked with the improvement of regional energy efficiency. The status of industrial structure and energy efficiency together reflect the economic development direction, level of development and ability of economic sustainable development of a country. This paper discusses the contribution of changes in industrial structure to the improvement of regional energy efficiency from the perspective of space. By using the statistics of GDP industrial structure and related energy utilization statistics, combining the mathematical models and spatial analysis methods, taking the data of 31 provinces in Mainland China as samples, It is concluded that there are large differences in the contribution of changes in industrial structure in 31 provinces and autonomous regions in China to the improvement of energy efficiency. The industrial structure is reasonable and the economic foundation is good. Provinces and autonomous regions with relatively slow economic development, as well as the deficits in the central and western parts of China at the initial stage of industrial restructuring The changes in industrial structure in developed provinces and autonomous regions have made significant contribution to the improvement of energy efficiency in the region. However, the weak economic base has not yet formed the provinces and autonomous regions with leading industries and the regions with more reasonable low-end industrial structure. The changes in industrial structure have no obvious contribution to the improvement of energy efficiency in the region .
