英国剑桥大学对解理理论的研究是由A.H.Cot-trell 开创的。Cottrell 是大家熟知的位错理论的大师,他1958年到剑桥大学任冶金和材料科学系系主任。在解理理论方面做出了不少贡献的J.F.Knott 是他的研究生,Knott 的博士论文题目是“Notch effects inthe deformation and fracture of mild steel”,主要内容就是脆性断裂。Knott 在剑桥大学得博士学位后在英国CERL 工作了几年,从事软钢和低合金钢脆断研究,1967年回到剑桥大学任教。Knott 在剑桥的研究
The Cambridge University study of cleavage theory was pioneered by A.H.Cot-trell. Cottrell is a well-known master of dislocation theory, and in 1958 he was director of the Department of Metallurgy and Materials Science at the University of Cambridge. J.F.Knott, who made a lot of contributions to the theory of cleavage, is a graduate student. Knott’s PhD dissertation is entitled “Notch effects in deformation and fracture of mild steel”. The main content is brittle fracture. Knott spent a few years at CERL in the UK after earning a Ph.D. from Cambridge University where he engaged in soft and low alloy steel brittle fracture studies and returned to Cambridge University in 1967 to teach. Knott’s research in Cambridge
