Researchers in Hong Kong have found that blood sugar is linked to the amount of brain damage that stroke causes. Dr. Wu at the University of Hong Kong and Queen Mary Hospital told the Medical Progress Conference of the Hong Kong Medical Association: This may be related to the eve of the patient’s diet. The researchers found that people with high blood sugar levels had more brain damage. Eating more sugar after a stroke can cause further damage. Wu said this means doctors should reconsider the standard treatment of sugar solutions after stroke patients have been admitted to the hospital.
