The relationship between the level of virus replication at HCV infection and the state of liver injury is unclear. The authors describe a new method for the quantitative determination of HCV RNA in serum by a method known as competitive RT-PCR by combining reverse transcription (RT) with polymerase chain reaction (PCR) Co-amplify with the RNA to be tested and calculate the level of HCV RNA in the test sample based on the known amount of the mutant HCV RNA synthesized.
