英语定冠词使用频率相当高,翻开英文读物页页都可见到,但其用法却十分复杂,不易掌握。因此在学习和运用中应该细心体会。下面谈谈对用与不用定冠词的几种场合及其异同的粗浅认识。 一、用与不用定冠词均可,意思基本相同 1、词序不变.例如: 说“某种民族的性格”,用与不用定冠词均可.如: German character=the Germancharacter(德意志民族性格) 如. That’S the Swiss national character.(G.B.Shaw)上例中的Chara-cter为不可数名词. 统指“戏剧”,用与不用定冠词均可,统指某地或某时的“戏剧”也是一样。如Frenchdrama=the French drama(法国戏剧),Elizabethan drama=the Elizabethan drama(伊莎白女王时代的戏剧。)
