The Institute of Mechanics of the Soviet Academy of Sciences has developed an energy-saving robot that can be used by the processing industry to transport roughs weighing up to 40 kilograms. Its energy consumption is only equal to one-fifth of the energy consumed by this type of robot currently used in the world. The arm of this robot is made of a composite material called Carron Plastic, which is lighter than steel but stronger than steel, so it can greatly reduce energy consumption. Tests have shown that robotic arm parts made of composite materials are both faster and faster than ordinary robots.
