《和剂局方》四物汤,由当归、川芎、白芍、熟地组成,主治「冲任虚损,月水不调,脐腹疠痛,崩中漏下,血瘕块硬」等证。它是以《金匮要略》治妇人漏下的胶艾汤化裁而来的,是调经的基础方剂。「主病之谓君」,四物汤中能针对营血虚的病机和冲任不调诸证的药物,惟当归而已。《韩氏医通》云:「血药不容舍当归,故古方四物汤以为君,芍药为臣,地黄为佐,芎(艹穷)为使也」。这是对本方组成的正确分析。主药当归在该方中的意义是:
