作者1979~1981年研究结果表明,黑龙港地区小地老虎Agrotis ypsilon(Rott.)越冬代蛾峰有三个,初峰在4月初,中峰在4月中旬,末峰在4月下旬,其中的中、末峰是一代幼虫的主要来源,约占总虫量80%是预报和防治的重点,研究还指出:5月初初峰发育的幼虫正值3龄,中峰为2龄,末峰为1龄,此时,春玉米幼苗为2~3叶期。试验证明,用20%甲胺磷(缓释剂)以2%用量拌种,保苗效果为83.1%,经5000亩应用平均效果为88.4%,用50%甲胺磷(乳油)以1.0%用量拌种防治效果为91.5%,经50000亩应用平均效果为92.2%。对玉米、棉花安全,同时能兼治蝼蛄、金针虫,该法适用于地下虫混合发生区。
