Orient Electronics (0682) was formerly Yantai Computer Company. In December 1990, Yantai Dongfang Electronic Information Industry Group was established on the basis of this company. In November 1995, it was renamed Yantai Dongfang Electronic Information Industry Group Co., Ltd. The listed joint-stock company was formally established in January 1994. It was initiated and established exclusively by Yantai Dongfang Electronic Information Industry Group Co., Ltd. and its major operating assets were used as shares. On January 21, 1997, Dongfang Electronics was listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange. After the listing, the market performed well. Compared with the opening price of 17.98 yuan, the cumulative increase so far has exceeded 400%. Dongfang Electronics is currently a key manufacturer of industrial control microcomputers and computer peripherals in the Ministry of Electronics Industry.
