During the years of World War II and years after the war, most of the maritime oil transport was completed by standard ships, the T-2 developed by the United States. Its capacity is 16,000 tons (Xia Lee load line), the speed of 14.5 knots. By 1954, the world commercial fleet already had 3,450 oil tankers with a total payload of about 37,000,000 tons. T-2 still exceeded the average size of tankers, when the largest tankers only 30,000 dwt.
