BPH / 2J mice are a hypertensive genetic model associated with sympathetic hypersensitivity. Orexins are neuropeptides that affect sympathetic activity and blood pressure. Compared with normotensive BPN / 3J mice, hypothalamic tissues of BPH / 2J mice had increased orexin precursor mRNA expression. The aim of this study was to determine if enhanced orexin signaling contributes to the development of hypertension.
