A recent research report by a British consulting firm on the development of the global truck industry indicates that by the end of this century, truck sales will continue to increase in major global markets, and total demand this year will increase by more than 20%. After the 1991-1993 recession, truck sales in western Europe are showing strong recovery. Last year, West European truck production increased by 27% to 270,200, the highest growth rate in history. This year is expected to grow by 11.6% to reach 301,700, and by the end of the century it will reach 341,500. Germany and Italy will also increase sales as the European truck market recovers. It is expected that the total demand of these two countries will reach 235,300 this year, which is higher than that in 1994.
