自我部进入坑道作业以来,至今一直使用嘎斯灯照明(乙炔灯)。这种灯是用清水充电石(碳化钙CaC_2),使它产生乙炔气体,再经点燃后即可产生光亮。但该灯的缺点是黑烟多,光度弱,嗅味大,因而使某些同志在坑道中间到这种嗅味,就产生恶心、头晕。为了防止这种情况,同志们戴着口罩作业,但仍不能解决问题,如作业一、二小时,口罩上就有黑灰一层.因此有些同志对嘎斯灯产生恐惧和讨厌情绪。这样不仅影响了身体健康与作业情绪,而且也直接影响到作业进度。但一时又没有比它更好的照明工具来代替,所以不得不用.就在这时我们听到9204部队防化連医助赵玉才同志创用盐水代替清水充电石法,但经我们多次试验,其效果并不令人满意,因而激起了我们对它的研究与革新的
