对西方当代颇有影响的美国剧作家尤金·奥尼尔的作品与存在主义的关系作了分析。指出奥尼尔将西方现代社会中人与社会的关系视为悲剧性关系,他认为人类的信仰意志和理性主义精神因必然遭到现实的否定而归于空幻,将人类的悲剧性命运视为人类生存的必然矛盾,人与命运的斗争是人与自己的斗争。还对奥尼尔戏剧中与思想内容相联的艺术表现特征作了分析与评价。
The author analyzes the relationship between existentialism and the work of Eugene O’Neill, the influential American playwright of the West. He pointed out that O’Neill regarded the relationship between human and society in the modern western society as a tragic relationship. He believed that the will of human belief and rationalism were due to the unrealistic negation of reality, and the tragic fate of human beings as human beings The inevitable contradiction, the struggle between man and his destiny is a struggle between man and himself. It also analyzes and evaluates the artistic features associated with the content of the thoughts in O’Neill’s drama.
