第一次会晤时间:一九七九年五月九日星期三下午二时;地点:柏克莱加大东方语文学系接待室。第二次会晤时间:同日下午五时;地点:加大总图书馆莫里逊室。是四月下旬,我寄迹的柏克莱加大,忽然传来一个中国文化代表团即将到来访问的消息,团员清一色都是社会科学院的成员,而钱钟书先生的大名,赫然在焉!这个代表团由宦乡副院长率领,代表中还包括社会学家费孝通先生,但是其中最具震憾力的消息是钱钟书(默存)先生来了。真的,“魔鬼夜访”过的钱钟书先生来了。
First meeting time: Wednesday, May 9, 1979, at 2 pm; Location: Reception Room, Greater Orientale Chinese Language Department, Berkeley. Second meeting time: 5pm on the same day; Venue: Increase the Morrison Room of the General Library.
