On September 5, 1987, Decree No. 58, signed by Li Xiannian, chairman of the People’s Republic of China, released the first archival law of China ever since. Its content and characteristics, compared with the foreign archives, fully shows that it is a national archival code with Chinese characteristics. First, to formulate the archival law is to ensure that archival and archival work “serves the socialist modernization drive.” This is one of the characteristics of our archives law.
