文人与竹有着不解之缘。宋代较早的一批文人画家就注意到了竹的比德作用和以书入画之特性。然而,竹为什么能受文人的喜好且代代盛行下来呢?首先,竹与人的生活息息相关。竹的全身都有利用的价值,竹来自人的生活创造,参与生活的创造,有益于人们的审美意识。也就是说,由于生活的创造,使竹成为人的审美对象。其次,文人赋予竹子极高的人格意义,它也是画家寄托思想感情最惬意的工具。文人画家借物比兴,有的画家借以比喻人品道德;有的借以喻志;有的借以寓情;有的借以论世;也有的借写竹来自我表白或陈述自己的身世。最重要的一点是,画竹的用笔方法是中国绘画中文人画“以书入画”思想的具体体现,符合文人画写意用笔的基本要求。墨竹题材的绘画形成了中国绘画史中文人画之趋势。
Literati and bamboo have a bond. A group of earlier literary painters in the Song dynasty noticed the bamboo’s role as a virtuoso and the feature of painting books. However, why bamboo can be influenced by literati and flourished from generation to generation? First of all, bamboo and people’s lives are closely related. The whole body of bamboo has the value of being used. Bamboo comes from the creation of human life, participates in the creation of life, and is beneficial to people’s aesthetic awareness. In other words, bamboo has become the aesthetic object of human beings due to the creation of life. Second, the literati gave the bamboo a very high sense of personality, and it is also the most comfortable tool for painters to place their thoughts and feelings. Literati painters borrowed more than material, and some painters used to describe the moral character; some borrowed metaphors; others borrowed affection; some borrowed from the world; and others borrowed bamboo to express or make their own personal experiences. The most important point is that the method of painting bamboo is a concrete manifestation of the Chinese painting of Chinese painting and the basic idea of “writing in painting with painting”, in line with the basic requirements of literary writing. The painting of the bamboo theme has shaped the trend of Chinese painting in the history of Chinese painting.
