Chronic back pain seems to have nothing to do with bacterial infection, but according to a recent report by the U.S. Medical Today’s News Network, scientists found that about 40% of patients with chronic back pain are associated with bacterial infection and their symptoms can be significantly relieved after antibiotic treatment . Two studies were conducted in collaboration with the University of Southern Denmark at Birmingham University in the United Kingdom. The first study confirmed the link between chronic back pain (which means more than 6 months of persistent back pain) and Acinetobacter acnes belonging to the anaerobic bacterium 162 patients with disc herniation and chronic back pain were divided into groups: one receiving antibiotics amoxicillin and clavulanic acid for 100 days and the other receiving placebo.
