在编写文学史时,文学史的分期具有重要意义。一方面,它能为人们明确指出某一文学现象、文学作品所处的特定社会环境;另一方面,它又能揭示出整个民族文学发展中的必然规律。面对以口传文学为主的少数民族来说,文学史的分期不如依据文字考证的那么容易。那么,应该如何划分各自不同的文学时期呢?我觉得,文学史的分期不宜过细,应从各个民族自身历史发展的实际特点出发,提倡大跨度的分期(或称粗略分期)。提倡文学时期的粗略划分,首先是考虑到云南许多少数民族历史发展状况的实际特点。许多民族由于它们独自的社会条件所限,在其发展过程中,
