对1982年8月20日,24日两天分别发生在普陀山东北海面(30°05′N、122°35′E)和长江口余山以东海面(31°30′N、122°35′的两次赤潮进行了调查与初步研究。认为这两次赤潮都发生在高温、低盐海域,赤潮生物为夜光虫(Noctiiuta miliars)和少量铠角虫(Ceratium)。研究表明,赤潮形成的主要原因是夏季长江洪水期径流携带丰富的营养盐,造成了夜光虫的大量繁殖。另外,河口区的高温、低盐和两次强台风的影响都能加速赤潮的形成。
