Det Norske Veritas (DNV) continues to expand its share of the container shipping market. The current fleet market share accounts for about 5% of TEU. In 2006, DNV obtained a total of 33 new container ship projects with a market share of 7.5%. Compared with tankers and bulk carriers, container ships are considered as safer vessels. However, the ever-increasing hull and increasing value of goods require that shipowners and shipyards ensure that the new design meets the fatigue life requirements. For operating ships, it is the most important to develop a risk management plan to find out the problem of cracks. Normally, the ratio of value of goods to ship is 1: 5. The National Association of Marine Insurers estimates that the value of a 10,000TEU container ship is $ 100 million, plus the value of the cargo is $ 450 million and the total loss will amount to more than $ 500 million. In the event of an average, insurers face complex insurance claims.
