【內容摘要】寓情于教,以趣激学,教学相长。教学中注重师生之间情感交流,激发学生学习英语的兴趣,培养学生学习英语的良好习惯,引导学生英语入门学习的技巧,大大促进英语教学。

Whether the students can learn English well or not the very beginning is wery important for them during their learningperiod. The teachers in Junior English teaching play an important role in their English study just as their parents who taught them to speak when they were very young. How to lead the students to learn the rudiments of Junior English as soon as possible? It is worth for us English teacher to study.I tried some methods to solve this problem in my teaching experience.
Ⅰ.Arousing the students’interests of studying English.
Interest is the best teacher.The students in junior middle school are very young.Thy want to know everything,they are interested in everything. Most of them think English is a mysterious language and it is very interesting,so it is very easy to arouse the students’interests in studying English. In my teaching experience I tried to arouse the students’interests from the following aspects:
(1)Using object teaching to build an enthusiastic,interesting atmosphere for the students to English.
For us Chinese students,we do not have a good environment to learn English.We seldom have chance to practise our English escept in the English class.So I tried my best to create a good atmosphere for the junior students to study English from the very beginning.I studied the Teachers’Book and the Students’Book intensively,designed the teaching steps with all my heart and used objects,pictures,tape recorder, and slides to help my teaching and aroused the students’interests in studying English.For esample:In Unit 6 Go for it.“I’m more outgoingthan my sister.”I held a sports meeting in the classroom.I brought some tools used for sports meeting to the classroom.I asked three students to yun at the same time,the other students watched and listened to me carefully. Then I asked: Who yun fast \faster\—fastest?It is very easy for the students to understand the comparison of adverb:fast\faster\—fastest.In the same way,I taught well—better—best,far—farther—farthest.The students felt it was interesting and easy to understand the new words.Then I get them to read after me,read in pairs,read one by one,word by word.After I was sure thy had mastered all the new words,I began to teach the passage,so the students would not feel boring.
(2)Training the students in different kinds of methods to put what we learned into practice
They students will not feel simple and boring if we use different kinds of methods to practise their English. It can make my teaching lively and colourful. The students will be lost in the English class if we do so.The teachers should try to get goodresults. For esample:In Unit2 Grade 8 Go for it“What’s the matter?”I practiced the dialogue with one of the students fist,then I asked the students to act out the dialogue, using pair work,row work,group work,and practiced between boys and girls. I also asked each student to read one sentence to have a competition.All the students took an active part in my teaching.I felt the atmosphere was very wonderful.
(3)Using music,stories and doggerel in my teaching
I think an English teacher is not a music teacher. He/she needn’tworry about how beautifullyhe/shecan sing.As a teacher, if you put your heart into your teaching, the students will accept you happily. For example:After we finished teaching the structure---What would you like? I made up a song:What would you like?I’d like a cake.I’d like an apple. Would you like some bread? Would you like some milk? I think so.For another esmple:in order to help thestudents know when to add-es and when to add-s after a noun ending with o,I told them to remember thissentence:Negroes and heroes like eating potatoes and tomatoes,becausein junior English book,except the four underlined words above, we must add-s to the others ending with“o” when changing into plural.In this way,the students can not only remember and consolidate the language materialsbut also cultivate the language sensibility.They can improve their spoken English,arriving at a beautifulplace which is good for then to learn English well.
Ⅱ. Devloping the students’good habitof studying English
In order to solve this problem that the students just have much interest in English is not enough, they should form a good habit of learning English.A good habit is the half of success.From some years of teaching esperience,I found some students did not form a good habit of studying English from the very beginning,so when they were in Grade Two,the contents became more different,they found they could not understand the teacher in English classat all. I think we can help the students form a good habit of learning English from the following aspects:
(1)Getting the students to remember some English words every day
Words are the most important for the students to study English well. We can not remember a lot of words in one or two days. We should remember the same word again and again , from time to time. Give the yein to students’ memory of repeating abundantly. Then the students will not feel afraid of English during their study.
(2)Hepling the students form a good habit of reading aloud.
English is a kind of language,we must read and speak every day as we learn Chinese.If the students have a special feeling to English,that must be very wonderful.Each time the new term began,I usually sent the following words to my students:If youwant to learn English well,youmust be braver and more careful.I encourage the students to read loudly every day not only in class but also after class.I always had competitions in class to encourage the students to read and act bravely in class.For some other students who were not good at English, I usually talked with them heart by heart afterclass.Helped them build up a confidence of learningEnglish, aroused their interests of learning English,practice their ability of listening and reading,gave them enough chance to show themselves to the others.
(3)Finish the exercisescarefully,correct the mistakes intime.
The teacher corrects thestudents'papers every day to help the students correct their mistakes in their English studying.The teachershould help the students,so they will not make the same mistakes again andagain.Some students seldom pay much attention to what the teacher did at all.The students in junior middle school just come into a new enviroment.If the teacher pays attention to this when they begin to learn English,it will be good for the students.As teachers we all know,it is much more difficult for the students to learn by themselves without the teachers'proper instructions.We should make the students not only understand this principle, but also let them put it into practice.The teacher should try to correct the students' wrong attitude and action towards study.
Ⅲ.Exchanging feelings frequently with the students to establish favorable relationship with them
The students in junior middle school are too young.Theyareeager to get help and concern from the teachers.I usually talked with the students about their daily life and study.I asked them to learn from some good example near them or in the book or on TV and so on.It helped them set up confidence to learn English.I designed different kinds of questions meticulously.Then I asked differentstudents to answer the questions. The students permeatedwith confidence and hopes in English class.After class,I often talked with some students who were not good at English.For example:In my class, There is aboy called Jiang Zhangrong ,he is a very careful boy.But he is very poor in English at first.I asked him not to lose heart. I helped him to find why he wasnot good at English.I helped him to find the reasons.Maybe he didn't find the good ways to study the English words. Maybe he didn't often revise his lessons. Maybe he did not read as much as he could.Maybe he had a lot of questions, but he did not ask the teachers or the other classmates.I asked him to find why himself and told me the truth. In the end,I said to him,"Zhangrong, you are a very clever boy,you study English hard. If you go on, I am sure you will study English well."He thought what I said over for a long time and got much confidence. From then on,he changed some of his study methods and worked harder. Now he feels it is not so hard to learn English.He often said he was grateful to me,he would study English well and he was sure he could. I am so happy to hear what he said.in theirs eyes I was not only their English teacher but also their goodfriends.From this I know:As an English teacher, besides having strong basic ability in teaching,we must also value the feeling investment.I think the feeling between teachers and students is the foundation to improve the teaching efficiency and the motive power that can make the students learn English well.
Ⅳ. Layingmuch emphasis on the students' basic knowledge to prevent them falling behind
(1)Helping them revise the phonetic symbols.
During my my teaching practice, a lot of students told me that they found it was very difficult for them to remember the English words,and it was very easy for them to forget the words they had remembered berfore.I asked them why?They said they didn't know how to pronounce each word, and it took them quite a long time to remember the English words. From my teaching experience,I knew they didn't learn the phonetic symbols well. So I asked if theywanted to make it up after class. they were all pleased to hear I was going to help them.I spend one week helping them read and memorize all the phonetic symbols.I didn't stop until I was sure most of the students could pronounce and spell each word alone. After that they could pronounce and spell the new words easily.
(2)Teaching them how to memorize the English words.
After revising the phonetic symbols,some students told me they found it was easier to memorize English words than before,but after one or two days they would forget them all. I encouraged them not to lose heart, then I told them some ways to memorize words:
A.Teaching them some knowledge about word--information.
e.g:Verbs---Nouns:run--runner win--winner play--player
write--writer teach--teacher
Nouns--Adjectives:help--helpfulcare--careful
sun--sunny cloud--cloudy rain--rainny
Adjectives--Adverbs:bad--badlyquiet--quietly
lucky--luckily noisy--noisily
Compounds:playground classroomeverything supermarker somebody
B.A certain word can be changed into another word by adding,ticking, or changing one letter.
e.g: dive--drive father--farther either--neither
ever--even cross--acrosswake--awake
C.At the same time,I told the students to pay attention to some special words
e.g:visit(v.)--visitor(n.)sun(n.)--sunny(adj.)
heavy(adj.)--heavily(adv.) friend(n.)--friendly(adj.)
hard(adv.)--hardly(adv.)
I encouraged the students to find some rules in their vocabulary study. After that,they all find it was easier to remember the English words.
(3) Enabling the students to use some sentence structures.
Though in some ways more information is paid to the communication in junior English teaching, I think the certain basic knowledge of grammar plays an importantrole in the students' English study. If the students can not master the basic sentence structures,they will not express themselves freely.Then as a result, what they said might be made up word by word.So I think it is important for an English teacher to teach the students how to use some basic sentence structures whenever it is in the past,now,or in the future. For example:When I taught the Past Continous Tense.I was not just teaching it,I paid much attention to arouse the students interests to come to the front and do some actions.e.g: sweep the floor, draw a picture on the blackboard; open the door and so on. While he\ she was doing the action , I asked: " What is he/she doing ?" I helped the students to answer :" He\ She is ..." After he\she finished doing the action, I asked:" What was he\ she doing just now ?" They answered:"He\She was...In this way the students will not feel boring to learn sentence structures .Then I was surprised to find most of my students could express themselves more freely than before.
In a word,it is important for the students to learn the radiments of Junior English. If the students can learn English well fromthe very beginning, they will feel it easy to learn English in their study.
