UOP high octane gasoline platinum reforming process ushered in its 50th anniversary. The process was first industrialized at OldDutchRefinery in Muskegon, Michigan. Catalytic reforming process allows refiners to greatly increase the yield of high-octane gasoline per barrel of crude oil. At the same time, the process offers petrochemical producers a low-cost method for producing aromatics for plastics and fibers:
