以研制电加工机床著称的日本 Japax 公司于1983年研制成功了加工速度达到200mm~2/min 的 LX—500A 型高速线切割机床。此后经过四个多月的努力,又使其加工速度提高到300mm~2/min。该公司发表了这一消息的二十几天后,三菱电机公司也对外供应200mm~2/min 的 DWCF-1型高速线切割机床。高速线切割机床具有以下特点:1.研制了能实现最佳控制的全晶体管脉冲电源。2.该电源在以毫微秒(10~(-9))级的群脉冲加工时,不仅能保证高精度,而且不断线,圆角精度好。
